Ella is a 18 month old Ragdoll cat that came to live with me two weeks ago. Today I thought it was time to see if I could get her to wear a harness for walking on a leash. Like most cats she wasn't impressed with the idea and instantly flopped to the ground. However... the harness had a small bell on it, and Ella just loves to chase anything with a bell. So for the next few minutes she tried unsucessfully to get the bell while rolling around madly! However with each roll she was moving the harness around her body and you'll see at the end of the clip she was victorious in her quest to get the bell.
Once I took the harness off her she played with it for an hour, absolutely loving the sound of the bell every time she pounced on the harness or threw it across the ground. After that I removed the bell from the harness as there was no way she'd ever walk with that distracting but fun sound on her back! The bell was recycled into a new toy I made for her, and she's now quite happy for the harness to be on her when we go exploring the big wide world :-)
Note: Ella's body colour is quite interesting as it is white with blue points, however she also has a strong chocolate colour overlaying the blue on her back, side and tail, and then to add to the mystery she has an orange/brown colour that blends the blue & chocolote areas into the white! And then there's some lynx stripes too! That combination would make her a "tri-colour lynx without mits" however such a combination isn't officially recognised. She has maintained the white chin and white under her tail that is standard for a ragdoll.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragdoll
'The Ragdoll is a cat breed with blue eyes and a distinct colorpoint coat. It is a large and muscular semi-longhair cat with a soft and silky coat. Developed by American breeder Ann Baker, it is best known for its docile and placid temperament and affectionate nature. The name "Ragdoll" is derived from the tendency of individuals from the original breeding stock to go limp and relaxed when picked up. '
Are you sure that's a ragdoll? Mine has very long fur, especially on the tail. Although, I must admit, the markings look similar, just not the fur. Maybe your kitty is a mix?
Anyway, the video is very cute.

Her fur is longer than it looks, however it sits flat rather than fluffy. I think its the Burmese ancestory causing this. Everything else is right for a ragdoll, and in winter her coat becomes thicker giving a more typical ragdoll look. When she gets excited or frightened her fur fluffs up and she then looks like the typical ragdoll.

the cat is rolling around like that because it's got a harness on it. what were you planning to do, get it to plough a field? if not, take the fucking harness off.

The cat is rolling trying to reach the bell on the harness. The bell was removed (and made into a toy for her), ever since we have gone for daily walks wearing the harness and a lead with no problems. OK people sometimes laugh at us and say "OMG, he's walking a cat...", but other than that no problems.

Ella is very much like Simons cat, especially when chasing a fly :-) I got a new rahdoll kitten this week and their interactions so far have also been very much like Simons Cat cartoon versions.
