A reenactment held on the 175th anniversary of Joseph Nicollet traveling through the site of present day Outing on his mapping expedition in search of new trade routes in the north central area of Minnesota.

Two 10-man voyageur canoes, brought over to Outing from Mille Lacs Kathio State Park were used for hour-long archeological canoe tours held on Lake Roosevelt.

Featured during the day was a very informative and entertaining re-enactor from the MN Historical Society playing Joseph Nicollet, demonstrations of old skills like birch bark canoe building and display of artifacts found in the area.

The day long event was coordinated by the Roosevelt and Lawrence Area Lakes Association (RALALA).
