  • leatherman is a fine american knife. the plastic is zytel - not coke bottle plastic. silly post. hell of a good tool.

  • have had nothing but good things to say about my wave. Nothing on mine is plastic, it is all metal. I assume you are talking about the zytel plastic inserts. This is a tough plastic, but the wave suits me just fine for what I need

  • and yet my leatherman c33t came with a dint in the blade..

  • @CE750 Leatherman is 100% American made, it is obvious in this video, and the package doesn't say Made in China.

  • @BCBCUNC aren´t those two the same?

  • are you sure this is in Oregon and not Asia because all of the workers are Asian or robots.

  • @dungchewer its not hard to be more mexican than taco bell.

  • VERY disappointing to see that these aren't 100% American made anymore.. Next thing you know, Snapon Will be made in China (not talking bliue point either)

  • So are you saying Leathermans say "made in the USA" on them? Like my PowerLock, I never said they were not put together in America and packaged here, But those plier heads are more Mexican then Taco Bell now. Along with other parts. And for every 300 Americans they employ they have how many Mexican's?

How is it not a K-mart quality tool? You do know that every single K-mart, Walmart, Target, Meijer, Cost co, Sears, and sum hardware / grocery stores in America sells them right? But whatever

  • Yeah it is. The lawsuit you're citing was because of materials taken from other countries or casted in other countries; the assembly always remained American. That means Leatherman created American jobs, most would call that a service to the country. You probably take issue with Tim Leatherman's politics, and that's fine, but to say the knife is a K-mart quality tool is utter and complete horseshit. We will have to agree to disagree on that.

  • Is it? Look it up Leatherman was sued and lost against the state of California. The allegations were that Leatherman engaged in deceptive advertising by stamping "Made in U.S.A." on its popular multitools, even though they included many pieces from non-U.S. manufacturers.

Leatherman was ordered to pay 18 million. You can face facts or live in denial. Once LM sold his soul to Walmart and other big box chains they had no choice but to cut cost some where and they did it by going to mexico.
