I don´t think he is dead. Yet. I looked at Wikipedia, no notes of him passing. But they could be wrong of course. Hope not!

@Lampodikt James Gadson is alive and well. He plays drums on Jamie Lidell's Compass (2010) and has worked with Beck on several studio projects (check out his Record Club videos!). Still the man.
