The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania had a great impact on the Civil War. It gave the most men to the Union Army, second only by a couple thousand by New York, the bloodiest and biggest battle in North America, the Battle of Gettysburg, was fought there, and the state provided many fine and brave generals to the Union Army (in fact, it even provided one general, John Pemberton, to the Confederate Army.)

If you would like to have your state featured in a video documenting its contributions to the Civil War, send me a message about it.

  • George Wade Brooks- 16th Pennsylvania cavalry.

Francis Wade Brooks- 88th Pennsylvania infantry.

Abraham Wade Brooks- 69th Pennsylvania Volunteer infantry

They fought from the beginning right to the end. They were all wounded at least twice, but was in almost every battle of the war in the Eastern theatre.

  • God bless each one of them.

  • Harrisburg born, Carlisle raised. I am a PROUD Pennsylvanian. There is no greater example of the the American Spirit than Pennsylvania. This is where the United States was born...where we stood adamant and told the King we would follow no more. Where we founded the greatest nation on Earth. Pennsylvania...the land of Freedom's birth. God bless it for eternity's end.

  • im proud to be a native of lewistown, PA, have lived the 31 years of my life here and will live the remainder here as well, our square downtown features a civil war monument, there you will find a single stone that differs from all the rest, its the only stone to ever be removed from lincolns grave, i believe it was presented to mifflin county for such a vast volunteer turnout from such a small area, if you look at all the state flags ... you cant tell me we dont have the coolest one !

  • 1:50 The Battle of Carlisle...my hometown.

Pennsylvania...1st to raise a Regiment to fight for this nation's freedom...among the first to send her sons to die to hold it together.

I AM PROUD OF BE A PENNSYLVANIAN! PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!

  • 1:50 The Battle of Carlisle...my hometown.

  • thats really great to hear i also had ancestors who fought for the 69th PA along with the 106th, and the 11th Reserves. Im Proud to still be able to live in the commonwealth.

  • Proud native son of the Commonwealth. My ancestors fought with the 69th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry in the center of the battle line on the third day. Least we forget!

  • Great video. My family and I travel to Gettysburg at least 10 times per year. I'm down in Baltimore and the crime is getting so bad that a move north is looking better and better. Great job...have to keep history alive!!
