A Naginata vs. katana demo fight during the Japanese festival at the Devonian Gardens - June 6th 2010. The girl using the naginata was awesome- she had some other fights which were better than this one that I didn't get on video and wish I did.

  • seems like a very effective weapon.

  • nothings better than a girl that could kick ass i always say

  • @88hnjs well... almost everything is easy to handle for a beginner without proper techniques but I get what you're trying to say... something hard to handle is something like a katara because of the opening blade and how you have to get used to maneauvering it around without colliding with another part of your body

  • i like the Naginata as a wepon, good reatch, easy to handle eaven for a beginer

  • naginata porn

  • thats NICE ^^

  • @TheGAMEBOY1994 What I believe you're referring to is the sport Atarashii naginata, which did have some of it's origins in women's use of the weapon, and is now mostly dominated by female practitioners. That said, it's far from 'the girl version of kendo', it's more like another branch of the sport, if anything :)

  • @Gillford101 Yeah, that's pretty much right. The naginata was a very common battle field weapon in the early sengoku jidai (if not earlier), but was eventually overtaken in popularity by the yari(spear). This was mostly due to the large swinging motions, required for effective cutting, had a tendency for 'friendly fire', when you had many samurai in tight formations.

It was later made popular by women for more or less the reasons above, longer range, more power with less strength, etc.

  • @TheGAMEBOY1994 actually it's just another type of weapon and was preferred by women because of it's versatility and would help to make up for the lack of strength women had in comparison to their male counter part. It was typically used by the Onna Bugeisha back in feudal japan. Now a days it is typically used by men around the world except in japan where more women practice martial arts per capita then anywhere else in the world. :)

  • Naginata was actually the girl version of kendo.
