@xXSythenXx Yeah, so maybe Downpour will have some interesting elements, even if it doesn't catch everything that made the first few great.

My opinion from being a game designer myself is that both Shattered Memories and Origins were a break-in for the new studio, To get their engines up and running, think of them as tech demonstrations. As for Homecoming. Homecoming was decent, had reminiscent value of the original games, but wasn't quite there yet.

Silent hill 2 will never be beaten though.

@DsAngel1211 I got so frustrated with SH4, I didn't even finish it. Never played 5. Maybe I will, dunno. One of the ideas I liked for Shattered Memories was having to evade the monsters. I didn't think the end product would be constantly getting dogpiled with only a flare for defense. At least they weren't as bad as the ghosts in 4. I was screaming for a pipe when I got to the hospital. I'm glad they're going to bring back the puzzle difficulty in Downpour. I missed that.

@ingasparrow The gameplay has been executed poorly since SH4. What happened man, u got the first one, awesome game, voiceovers sucked but allover awesome game, then u had 2, I could deal with that, the came heather...I hated the heffer but I liked the game, ok so then u go from those 3 games to u r locked in an apartment crawling through wormholes and fighting the first ever frikin ghost in SH. I have all of the game and I still do not play past 3.

@DsAngel1211 No, it was never intended to be a "remake". Nintendo Power was the first to do an article about it, the company that did the game said it was a "reimaging". Personally, I thought there were a few good ideas and I liked what they did with the story. But the gameplay was executed poorly.
