The song Genki+ from the album SEXY 8 BEAT. A good performance from Morning Musume at 2007 spring concert tour.

  • Is this supposed to be Yoshie's Graduation Concert?

  • Yes, I believe it is.

  • I'm sure she'll be missed by many. =(

  • Indeed. At least she seems to keep performing solo or with other singers. But she was one of my favorites in MoMusume :)

  • Aw I hate it when really great songs only end up as album tracks instead of singles. This would have been an amazing single! Kinda like Berryz Sakura wa Rakusa... that would have made a great single too. This live was really great!

  • Fuck yeah! Ai Takahashi! =D

  • I remeber when this Concert came out :D I love Sexy 8 Beat! missing Yoshie and Miki <3

    Genki+ is LOVE

  • By far one of my favorite songs out of them and this performance is amazing as well. LOVE IT!

  • @chunkyjustice in the cas of Morning Musume, however, two girls (Mari Yaguchi in 2005 and Miki Fujimoto in 2007) "left the group" due to boyfriend scandals (their contract does not allow them to have a boyfriend to keep up the "untouched pure idol" image). They did not recieve a graduation ceremony. In another case, a former MoMusu member (graduated from Morning Musume in 2004 to form a new duo with another girl) was fired from Hello! Project due to several scandals (underage smoking+boyfriend)

  • @chunkyjustice no no, she doesn't get fired :). In connection to Hello! Project, a graduation means just that a girl leaves the band (sometimes a girl also leaves Hello! Project at the same time, other just become soloists within Hello! Project or form a new band). These girls, who graduate from a band, get a graduation ceremony at a concert, usually at the end of a tour. The other members give them goodbye messages and the girl sings a final solo song.

  • @chunkyjustice I would never do that, but as I don't live in Japan and thus am not affected by the idol world (these girls are all called "idols/aidoru"), I can't really say that.

Especially at this group the girls are often between 12 and 15 years old when they come into the group. Currently the leader of the group is nearly 25 years old, she's going to graduate next month. The currently youngest member has just turned 13.

I think the parents know what they let the girls into.

  • @chunkyjustice Well, this goup is Morning Musume (translated "daughters of morning".

Directly related to them are the current groups °C-ute, Berryz Koubou and S/mileage because they are all at the same "organization" called Hello! Project. But you can also mention quite every other japanese girlgroup, especially AKB48 (they are currently EXTREMELY popular and their sales are breaking every record).

  • @chunkyjustice The age range of these girls at the time of this concert (spring 2007) was from 14 (2 girls) to 22 (2 girls).

They are dressed like that because they are used to outfits like these. This group (and the groups related to them) often use outfits like that for their concerts.

  • This is an amazing performance! <33
