UPDATE: Ok, after uploading I can see the widescreen has failed, but I think it's fixed now (changed default settings in WMM). ALso, on a brighter note, no lag particularly! And the HD button appearedd, yay! Hmm, it seems to drop in framerate though when watched in HD, if someone could confirm this it would be good, better if you can prove me wrong! I think it's just my lappy is slow atm (I am rendering now too)... Next coming the widescreen version!!

OK, my first test to try and get the "Watch in HD" button to appear. The Half Life clip was laggy while I played, but fine in the FRAPS recording - only a slight framerate loss. However, my first HD conversion test (which was true widescreen) from After Effects was 2 gig, and I sure as hell am not uploading that!
Instead this is a Windows Movie Maker render of the same 2 gig clip - in 45mb! Quality looks good, yet framrate seems poor - I'lkl have to see how it appears on here. However, random glitch that happened with my last video from WMM is that when played in Media player doesn't start as widescreen, it has to be clicked on first. Last time this meant that the video outputted was NOT widescreen on Youtube, I will have to see.
Any tips appreciated.

  • Your computer laggs^^

  • well it's typically good HD. problem is if you're doing any expensive entites [explosions, mass AI] it's going to laaaggg. or rendering a lot like distant trees, grass, etc.

  • hey, i'm also getting a low framerate on HD mode. And As for the widescreen aspect ratio you want to keep, have you checked out virtual dub (free)? i'm pretty sure that it would fix both of these problems, once you know how to use it. the videos on my channel were encoded to 100mb xvid avis with vdub but that was before the hd feature, i'll try it again once i record another and share the results to you if it's a sucess and how i did it... good luck.
