A project for my high school art class in 1978 called for breaking glass to be filmed. So adolescent boys were given licence to destroy as many pieces of glass as they could before the 50' film load ran out. The noise must have been amazing and surely disturbed other classes. The original film was silent so I have post-synced sound effects for fun. The ambient sound is recorded in the school area.

  • As a metaphor for the shattering of hopes and aspirations this video summarises the issues faced by australian teenagers in the latter part of the 20th Century. Having had their dreams summarily destroyed, society sweeps them away to make way for the next generation.
