If a world leader ever announces ET visitors in a war context I will be extremely wary. Any civilization with the technology to warp space and time (needed to travel here) would have destroyed us long ago if we were a threat, or if they were not peaceful.

Also a civilization that advanced would not need anything on our tiny planet. The entire galaxy, and beyond, is theirs to mine. There is nothing we have that they could want, or couldn't make themselves.
