You don't have to switch to Heavy Armor. There is a armor limit anyway in this game. You can't past 567.

In numbers you can, but that doesn't buff you up more.

One funny way to be pacifist is to max out Illusion spells and Pickpocket so you calm ennemies and steal their weapons and stuff. they become harmless
