Slideshow in memory of my friend JINGLES, who passed away February 25, quite unexpectedly. She was a good dog and a good friend. She never learned to do any tricks (unless food was involved!) but she had a smile for everyone and would give kisses freely to all those who would sit still.
When I first met Jingles -- she of the crooked legs and magic eyes -- she was one of a pack of young dogs in the shelter. I took her out into the "meet & greet" yard and she never took her eyes off of me; I was pretty sure I wanted this one, but had to put her back in order to fill out the papers. When I held her slim puppy body in my arms to put her back in the cage, she licked my face and peed copiously all down my front. I guess I was hers from that moment on.
I miss her but I know I gave her a good life.
Sleep well, Miss Jingles, you deserve it. I will see you when I see you.

What a beautiful best friend. I'm glad you had each other. Thank you for sharing your story and her life with me. You did a wonderful job of honoring your time together. I'm sure she and Bo are best friends nowadays.

Two years on and I still cry when I think of her. Maybe because my Mom is dying now; maybe because you can never have another 'first dog'; maybe because I am made of marshmallows. For whatever reason, I still miss her loving smile. No other dog can match her for courage and heart.

Wonderful tribute - perfect songs. Love the pictures of Jingles in the snow :-) I didn't know the story of how you met ... she knew from the very start that you were the right mom for her! Sweet doggie ...

They always know, don't they? The afternoon she passed away but before I knew, I was telling Pamela that story and reminiscing about what a great dog she was. I am sad but content that I gave her a good life and she died without pain or suffering. Thanks for the warm wishes! XXX
