This was Havasu! falls during the monster flood that had us evacuated via helicopter and flooded our campsite at 230 in the morning. There was a HUGE logjam forming in the bottom corner....
same colour just mud from the banks gets washed down the river which is what erodes the falls like sandpaper because of all the sediment which gets washed away after a while
boy! And all that power and fear was seen and felt by man from a wee water-fall!
Can you imagine what it would be like stood at the head of the grand canyon and miles of mudd, water and rocks - some over 100 tonnes in weight came heading towards you! It would sure make short work of the drying mud and silt, thereby, creating those very deep valleys out of said mudd etc in no time at all!
i just got back from that place navajo falls is gone but there is a place called new navajo falls and there is a 10 foot ledge behind the water fall and you jump through the fall into the water havasu and mooney falls have changed too
Yes I strung up my hammock above Navajo and just sat there for hours taking it in. Amazing... I will miss Navajo greatly and am saddened that the people going with me on our trip this summer will not get to experience it.
