That bird 43 has a peak kit in it. He didn't show clearly whether it was on or off. By the way the meter was swinging (with the slight hesitation of a peak kit), I suspect it was on. I got a 68xl with a 2SC1969 final that will swing 35 watts on a Bird with the peak kit turned on.

yes it is a 1955 bird 43 with a peak kit installed, this is with the peak kit off. Your radio will not do 13 watts avg. Mine does

How come when i try that on AM my deadkey is more than the voice peaks ?? the power goes down when i talk..

@linearone no the answer was a badly set up CB that the local 'rig doctor' has played with, bear in mind we don't use AM in the UK, so ALC and peak and swing is rarely heard..

yet 3 years on and now my radios are set to swing..!!!

Why would you want 13 watts dead key? unless your running a high drive amp its going to fry it. My uniden use to deak key 15 watts and swing 35. turned it down to 2 watts dk now though.
