As a family practice physician, Dr. Thomas Kaspari treats a wide variety of illness and ailment.

Now at Basin Electric, employees can schedule an appointment with Dr. Kaspari just as they would with their doctor at a clinic. The difference is that Kasparis office will be in the Headquarters building one day a month and the visit is free of charge.

Due to the location, hell talk to his patients about an upcoming surgery, but he cant perform one. I cant do the surgery, of course, but I can ease their mind as far as what to expect, Kaspari said.

At the Headquarters building, Kaspari can treat sinus infections, for example, and refill and write prescriptions; he cant do lab work. He can answer questions that employees may not want to schedule an appointment with an outside doctor to answer. Im not a dermatologist. But it takes a long time to get in with a dermatologist generally. So, if they have a question about a spot, they can ask me if they need to have it checked. Kaspari said.

Dakota Gasification Company has had Dr. Kaspari on contract since 1999; he works there 40 hours a week. He also has a part-time practice in Beulah at Coal Country Community Health Center; he has been a physician since 1997.

Kaspari said many people find it difficult to schedule an appointment and take time out of their day to drive to the clinic, sit in the waiting room and finally see their doctor. But its easy to get up from your desk and go two floors away and say, Ive got these symptoms, Ive had them for a week, my sinuses are plugged up, and get treated and go back to work. You dont miss any productivity either.

Vickie Volk, human resources assistant, does the scheduling for Dr. Kaspari at Headquarters, and said shes gotten many good comments from employees. She said they say its been a great benefit to have a doctor in house.

When Basin Electric employees visit with Dr. Kaspari, hes not in a hurry. His day is scheduled so that he can take his time with each patient, which he said is good for the patient and the doctor. I dont know the answer to everything. But I can usually point people in the right direction.
