UL Baseball- controversal call Part 3

UL's Dillon Guillory(C) was running in for home when UNO's catcher suddenly appeared in his way with the ball. That didn't stop Guillory, he lowered his shoulder and pumbled UNO's catcher. Guillory was ejected right away but controversy was that the catcher wasn't in his box and was up the line?

Guys, doesnt matter if he was "up the line". And if he has the ball, "suddenly" or not, catcher has the right to be there. Doesnt have to be at the plate as heard by some fan on this. So, if the catcher has the ball, and is going to make a play, the runner could be in jeopardy of interference. Or as you say..."lowered his shoulder, and pummeled"..he can be called for malicious contact. In college, you cant "take someone out". You have to try to go for the plate. You cant try to crash him.

I think this is NCAA, im not sure, but in NFHS rules the runner has to give himself up.

@chuck you are somewhat correct with what you say but if the catcher does not have the ball and is run into the correct call is obstruction and the runner would be awarded hom not matter if it was malicious contact if it was mc then he would be thrown out of the game but the run would still count if the catch has the ball then the runner must TRY which is a big word to avoid contact.It is under the FOrce Play Slide rule for NCAA sanction games

I was at this game man what a bs game brother. I think this was the beginning of the end of UL's greatness in the SBC in terms of baseball
