Jack Stamp was the director of bands at John T. Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC from 78'-82'. In May of 2006 the "Stamp era" Hoggard band reunited for a concert. This is a clip from that concert with the Ashley High School Symphonic Band.

  • Oh well...it's an amazing thing...Dr. Jack Stamp, one of the greatest composer/conductors of our time comes to take part in this incredible reunion, about 20 of his former students from 20-25 yrs. ago played in it, some very special kids from Ashley High School helped us with only one pratice. Instead of people simply enjoying a clip of this event, eveyone wants to be an armchair director. I just ask that you relax and enjoy this clip for what is is. :)

  • Too fast in the begining, too slow in the end.

  • Jack Stamp, the writer of the piece is the one that's conducting the band! I suppose he knows the proper tempo.

  • I'm a Taiwan piccolo. I played this when I was a junior high school student.

  • Our band played it faster, and i liked it that way.

  • haha i'm playing this piece this year in band :D i like my bell parts lol

  • I'm really glad that I came across this clip! This was my favorite piece played when I was in high school.

  • we are playing this piece this year ... although my part is pretty boring (bari sax) its a really cool piece when it all comes together.

  • I LOVED playing this piece in high school! The 4/4 against 7/8 in the high woodwinds and percussion were SO hard to clean up. Luckily I played bass clarinet, :P....Awesome song!

  • Jack Stamp is pretty great. He was my high school band director's college professor.

  • His music does have a certain style to it. It isn't always his form, however, sometimes it is. The tension, harmony, and rythym is really simliar in his work. You should check out symphony 1 by jack stamp.!
