Perhaps a sign that Murnau was already in decline as a filmmaker or at least in hollywood.We can only speculate what he might have done with sound.He might have been a lousy homosexual but this guy had talent!

This print is horrible on here. YouTube's compression stinks. You can barely make out faces. Now it's out on Blu-ray in high definition. That's the one to get. This is an embarrassment.

There's a Murnau/Borzage DVD set coming out from Fox later this year, which will include both "Sunrise" and "City Girl" as well as 6 or 7 Borzage titles, incl "7th Heaven" and "Street Angel". Who would ever have thought we'd see such a thing? I can hardly wait...

That's great news. I'll be interested to see how accurate my subtitles are for the Italian SEVENTH HEAVEN I posted a few months ago. I hope someone releases the other 4 surviving Murnau films that aren't yet available.
