November is Diabetes Awareness Month. There are 20 million Americans suffering from Diabetes today and many more who may unknowingly have the disease. The Today Show highlights an 11-year-old with type 1 diabetes and her continuous glucose monitor. Her mother, who also has diabetes says, "we're at a point where we can address the disease" and the best way to fight it is to stay aware and vigilant. http://www.jdrf.org

  • Its surprising to see how many people are not aware of what diabetes is and the immense repercussions of the condition to those effected. Help others by sharing your story on our page!

  • The only thing that I want to happen is for diabetes type 1 which I have had for over 42 years....to kill me hopefully by way of a fatal heartattack. Over 42 years of torment. It is not a life for me.

  • nick19994, im sorry to tell u that u r a diabetic!!!! these are the symptoms. but anyway dont let is slow u down!!!!

  • As the mother of a Type 1 diabetic son, it makes me happy that they finally did a news story on T1 that actually distiguishes it from T2.

  • Your mom is mistaken- those are the exact symptoms of diabetes. May also be a thyroid problem.

  • Did you go to a doctor? What did they say?

  • I got diagnosed last month ,i am 30 years old and not fat ,i am fit ,i cant believe it ,i am very depressed and very sad ,i sometimes cry bec i cant believe it,I take shots per day

I got bored from measuring my blood sugar ,sometimes it gets 40 and i feel i am gonna die, also i am paranoid now to go to the gym of getting low and faint infront of people, any suggestions?

is there any sensor that i can put in my skin and read my blood sugar or beaps when it gets low or high ?

    Thank you

  • I was diagnosed when I was 11, and im 15 now, it was really hard to deal with, and it still is...but im used to it now. Just star on Dbethics a great help

  • Real upset, quit job because stress spike up blood sugar. I talk to Jenny advice to take Dbethics after 10 days blood sugar dropped to 4.5mmol. Doctor reduced insulin by 10 units to 60units daily.

  • Type 1 isn't so good as it in the genes, doctors are only human as well, being diabetic for the last 30 years has not stopped me from doing anything, exept eating load of rubbish food, let's not all get depressed about this, click on my name and look what a middle aged diabetic gets up to in his spare time, have a laff at my expense!
