N.Y. Governor Spitzer Apology

NEW YORK - New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer is joined by his wife Silda as he apologized to his family and to the public Monday March 10, 2008 after being linked in news reports to a prostitution ring.

Spitzer came to power as a no-nonsense crimebuster known as the "sheriff of Wall Street."

Gov. Spitzer acknowledged in a press conference Monday that he "acted in a way that violates my obligations to my family" in connection with a high-end prostitution ring bust. "I have disappointed and failed to live up to the standard I expected of myself," he said. "I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family."
