Kunqu Opera -- " The Peony Pavilion • Broken Dream "

FYI -- As other Chinese Operas, Kunqu Opera was played by male actors when it originally appeared. However, it was not a very long time before females could play a real role. Now almost all the female rolls of modern version of Kunqu are played by female actress, unless in some fare specific conditions (very ancient original version)

  • Please, is a male or female singer? Very very beautifull!

  • @cmrodomal It is played by a lady. FYI -- As other Chinese Operas, Kunqu Opera was played by male actors when it originally appeared. • im in love with this opera... just i want to know ....she does her own makeup?

and the characters are "playing" be guys only? (it doesnt matter for me really...just i want to know...)

  • @MoctezumaBlood

Nope, the actress's makeup is done by professional makeup artists. The process is very complicated. The characters are women in this show. In some special shows the rolls are played by men. This is different with japanese opera, whose central chatacters are mainly played by men.

  • Magnificent.

  • @konkaywa

yes, the kunqu opera is really graceful.

  • the most beautiful drama in the world, it has more than 600 hundred years already, the lyrics are not the lyrics like western drama, it is actually Chinese poems. the players are singing poems in the play, rhyme, sensible, elegant and fantastic.

  • @cmrodomal Kunqu's beauty is not only at its melody, costume and steps. It has great narrations and its lyric is just a poem, because it was not make by folks; at ancient time, Kunqu's lyric, was all made by real poets. Unfortunately, that is also part of the reason why it is not popular nowadays, because modern people don't understand ancient poem well.

  • @reggieobster

hmm.... in A Dream of Red Mansions, female roles were played by female actors-- that was at least 4-hundred years ago......; In most cases, if the troupe was owned by private mansion and not played in public, actors are mainly females who played both male and female roles--- actually in ancient time, private troupe was the most popular form ....

  • @xiaodongzili it is remixed by wavestrikeIDM if you go to his Youtube and look for Frozen Cedars.

  • @reggieobster Thank you very much for answer my question. Very beautifull culture.

  • @2xtrbo You pity "Well Tempered" tuning system creature.
