  • While you break this guitar, there's kids wanting to learn how to play and not being able to afford one. I was once one of those, and if I would've seen you do this then, it would've made me more angry than it made me now.

It may not be a real PRS, but it's a real guitar. And it could've made someone really happy and change his life. You're no better than a stupid rockstar that trashes a hotel room.

If a person doesn't realize this, I'm not interested in reading what he writes.

  • @SpotlightKid83 I understand, but this guitar was NOT destroyed WITHOUT a very strong purpose. The idea was to "shock" then move people to go to my website so that they could read and be educated about NOT being ripped off with a counterfeit instrument. And it's not just about brand names here - If you've played one of these, you'll see that they are TERRIBLE in how they are built and play. It's a good way to FRUSTRATE a young player. An Epiphone or Squier are MUCH better.

  • @LegendaryTones Both you and I know that Epis and Squiers are built in the same factories that these replicas, with the same components, or even worst. Most people that buy these are perfectly aware that they're not the "real" ones, and with a couple hundred dollars more, you can get them to sound and play pretty well and still be several thousand dollars short of the ridiculously overpriced "real ones".

There is no purpose strong enough to do what you did, much less for advertising.

  • @SpotlightKid83 I understand your point, but disagree that "most people that buy these are perfectly aware" - IF that was the case, there'd be no issue. But the fact is that these are being passed off as the real thing and people are getting ripped off. I've also gone through a number of these to see that the quality control is horrible. The problem isn't so much in the manufacturing (computer CNC machines can do this well enough), but the assembly (bridges, frets).

  • @SpotlightKid83 And by the way, I make ZERO dollars for my website - it's an information source done as a labor of love. You can keep believing I'm a terrible person (and I'm o.k. with that), but if you open your eyes to the big picture about counterfeiting (and read the article that has interviews with people who were actually conned), perhaps you'll see different. If not, that's o.k. too. Just trying to spread awareness was the point. Peace out.

  • A real one wouldn't snap in half that easy

  • @LegendaryTones Maybe if the "real" ones weren't so unreasonably overpriced, there wouldn't be a market for this "fakes". I could buy a fake, replace everything but the wood with top notch components, and I'd have a killer guitar for less than half the price of a "real" one, and you would never know the difference. The guitar companies brought this onto themselves by outsourcing the production so it'd be cheaper, but at the same time sky rocketing their prices for no reason.

  • @LegendaryTones it may frustrate you who was lucky enough to learn the difference. But remember your 1st guitar? it was probably crap if I ask you about it today, even crappier and uglier than this one (most of our firsts were). But I'm sure that back then, it was the best thing ever. It won't frustrate someone who hasn't yet learned any better.

The only thing that you achieved to advertise is your total disrespect. And who wants to read what a man like that has to say? I sure don't...

  • I also imagine the neck wouldn't break away from the body quite that easily with a real PRS!

  • The funny part about this is a month ago PRS was telling us how the guys in Korea have more production experience that his guys at PRS. He has alot of respect for their Luthiers. He actually went there and made sure they made them exactly to his specifications. I actually have a MIJ Fender HM Strat that says Made in America on it.
