Agree, free will within a machine would be thoroughly dangerous, but how to control free will presents a firewall for AI, I think. Perhaps, various levels in free will could be programed into an AI entity. But, would that be considered AI?

@deanmullen10 Valid hypothesis, bus as many people do think about their thoughts it is proven otherwise. The word, self-consciousness derives from it. Being aware you exist, being aware you have thoughts and being aware of your thoughts, simply being aware of your brain.

I myself are thinking about my thoughts many times.

Thinking about a specific thought would results in you thinking about you thinking about the subject.
