An 80-key Mortier cafe (or dance) organ made about 1950 in Antwerp, Belgium. This pipe organ plays via punched cardboard "books". It supplied popular dance music in Belgian and French restaurants and bars. A few of these organs can still be found today, but the jukebox and then the DJ has supplanted this mechanical music machine.

  • Correct. The organ was brought to the USA in the 1980s from England and returned to the UK just this month.

  • Being a late Mortier organ, it never had a bellows. The blower is original to the organ.

  • @petermackett37 Where is it in this country now, is it in a collection? Judging by the book label, it was arranged by Andrew Pilmer. What is the tune called?
