Wow, this is a long way from the version ten years earlier, w/ the Fletcher Henderson arrangement, from Benny Goodman and His Orchestra (11 AUG ’39, recorded in Los Angeles).
This BG Septet version has some fine choruses from BG and Wardell Gray. Let’s just say that Fats’ chorus [@1:55] is PERFECT!

Benny could play and "played" Bebop in the mid-late 40:ies but he didn't like it.
He was NOT a modernist - A swing clarinetist par excellence he was!
