What's the point of buying a shamisen if you don't want to learn to play it? Just get a sumi-e painting of a lady playing one, let THAT gather dust.

Instruments are meant to be played.

Why buy an instrument when you're not planning on doing anything productive with it? You know how stupid you'll look when people say 'What's that?', you say 'it's a Japanese shamisen', and they say 'can you play?' What are you gonna say? You'll look like an idiot. '
