Flapper girls of the 1920's. Song by Cliff Edwards - 'The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi'. Edwards was the voice of Jiminy Cricket for the Pinnochio movie. He was also known as 'Ukulele Ike'.
The ukulele was booming in the 1920's.

Swell video and this recording of that song is new to me. Just great to discover a "new" Cliff recording!

Glad you enjoyed it. Often called the most beloved and popular of college fraternity songs, 'The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi' was written in 1911 by Byron Stokes. Cliff Edwards (Ukulele Ike) plays his Martin tenor ukulele here and recorded this version of the song in October, 1943. With Joe Tarto on bass.

I absolutely adore this montage !

But my curiosity has no boundaries, and I'd be very grateful if you'd indulge me in the following.

"The girl of my dreams" whom we see at 0:14 caught my eye in an undiscribable way. She is absolutely lovely.

Therefore, I'm curious as to whether she's related to you, and if so, would it be possible to tell me more about her ? I'm somewhat interested in knowing what she became, in an innocent way, of course.

    Thank you very much.

No, I'm sorry. The images in this video are all scanned from photos from the 1920's and 1930's. I don't know who any of them are except for Cliff Edwards and a few Hollywood starlets. The girl at 0.14 is unknown to me.

Wonderful sound quality! It's hard to believe it was recorded in 1933.

I'm sorry, I got it wrong when I put this video together a while ago. The song was recorded in 1943, not 1933.

Just hard to belive that the "Roaring 1920's" will soon be 100 years ago. I will be alive when it is friggin 170 years ago thats gonna suck.
