I love how a portion of my paid taxes goes towards Tenncare, but at the same time I have to go WITHOUT health care, b/c since I'm poor, and I'm single. I'm shit out of luck. I guess I have to be irresponsible and inpregnate a woman to get health care her in TN. Yea, minimum wage is TOO MUCH to qualify for Tenncare. - As if minimum wage is a " living wage". I'm fucked since society doesn't value people who stay single and wage slaves. I SHOULDN'T have to pay for something I'm NOT getting.
Cuts not necessary? Tenncare was bankrupting the state. I was a Tenncare fraud auditor. There was practically no control over the costs. It was a bottomless money pit. The MCOs could not sustain it without cutting reimbursement rates to the providers. The providers were either closing their business or moving to another state. Blue Cross wanted to pull out because it could not get enough doctors in its PPO - they were migrating to Texas for better pay and tort reform to boot.
Nice show--but if you're interested in the TRUTH about TennCare, please watch 323,000, where even the Governor admits people died as a result of his cuts. Furthermore, there is proof in emails from the State, that the cuts were NOT necessary, and had a political agenda.
