Jussi Björling - Jeannie with the light brown hair

Jussi Björling (1911-1960) in fact Johan Jonathan Björling, Born in Borlänge where you also can visit his museum and see him as statue in the center of town. He started already as child singing with his father and brothers. His first record as grown up was done in 1929. Sadly he died rather young in his summerhouse in the archipelagoes outside Stockholm. This recording is from 1949 and was recorded at the conserthall of Stockholm.

@Jonnybrams Yeah that's the original lyrics. I don't know why Björling chose the lyrics he did. Perhaps some lesser known variant or something of the sort.

If you put Jussi, Luciano, & Enrico on modern technology, Jussi is the only one with NO noise markers in the voice, which I think is really amazing. Once in a Richard Miller seminar they did that, and I think every voice teacher in the room was in awe. I I felt good about that, because as a child, he was my favorite, and the warmth and intensity of this voice makes me weep, which the others don't. I imagine that if there are really angels, they have to take lessons from him.
