You will need needle nose pliers, a crochet hook, a stick, some string, and doll elastic.

Xavier is a Dollzone Fei bought at Junkyspot(dot)com, which is where the Pocky bag came from. Of the 7 dolls I have he is the only one who has been restrung because he was too tight. This can happen with any BJD. He is from 2006 and his headcap has a latch instead of magnets. To get the cap off I hold the S hook with the pliers and pull up on the strings so the hook doesn't pull on the latch. A doll with a magnet cap will only have the knot from the string and S hook, if it has one, sitting in the head.

In this video I do put the same string back in. X was getting a bath and it's not a good idea to get the strings wet so I decided to film taking him apart and putting him back together.

  • how do you know what is the right size string when you are retieing the strings because they are too tight or lose

  • First I would recommend getting a restringing kit if you can. I took his old string to the fabric store and got the exact same size in by the yard cloth covered round elastic. Don't use thinner elastic, especially on an SD, it won't hold.

  • What kind of ball jointed doll you have on the video?

  • That is Xavier a Dollzone Fei with a custom face up from the Junly Spot store.

  • @NewMJ Make that a Dollzone Fei JunkySpot(dot)com and I did his face. His eyes are Soom Luciferin and his wig is a Monique Johnny

  • I have googled so many restringing videos and this is the best! This has been the only one that has clearly shown removing all parts and putting them back. Thank you as you have given me some confidence to do my own.

  • Thank you. It's not that hard to do, just keep track of the left and right pieces.
