Keith Olbermann worst person in the world: Katie Couric blasts MSNBC correspondent for the Barack Obama campaign
-----------------------------
Katie Couric: Sexist Media Hurt Hillary Clinton's Chances
Adding to her comments last night in Washington — "that Sen. Clinton received some of the most unfair, hostile coverage I've ever seen" — Katie Couric has filmed a Keith Olbermann-style special commentary (called ner "Notebook") slamming the media for its sexist coverage of Hillary Clinton and claiming that the sexist coverage hurt her chances at becoming the Democratic party nominee. The Notebook will air tonight on CBS affiliates and on CBS radio, and will live on CBSNews.com.

"One of the great lessons of [Hillary Clinton's] campaign is the continued and accepted role of sexism in American life, particularly in the media....It isn't just Hillary Clinton who needs to learn a lesson from this primary season — it's all the people who crossed the line, and all the women and men who let them get away with it."
Couric's reference in the video to "mainstream pundits saying they instinctively cross their legs at the mention of her name" is specifically about Tucker Carlson, who often made such a claim while still on MSNBC during the campaign.

Last night, without naming names, Couric seemed to excoriate both MSNBC's Chris Matthews — who has come under fire for sexist remarks against Hillary Clinton — and NBC's Lee Cowan — who reportedly said he found it "hard to stay objective" covering Obama — saying, "That's your job...find another line of work." Matthews notoriously announced that he "felt [a] thrill going up [his] leg" while listening to Obama speak, and was forced to apologize for sexist remarks against Clinton in January.

CBS anchor Katie Couric, in Israel covering the Obama foreign tour, gave an interview to Haaretz in which she discussed being a TV anchor: "I find myself in the last bastion of male dominance, and realizing what Hillary Clinton might have realized not long ago: that sexism in the American society is more common than racism, and certainly more acceptable or forgivable. In any case, I think my post and Hillary's race are important steps in the right direction." I find it unseemly for people like Couric and Clinton, who have been rewarded greatly for their talent, skill, and drive, to complain that sexism is the reason when they don't succeed at absolutely everything. (Couric is paid $15 million a year, a higher salary than her male counterparts.) Sure, she and Clinton have both gotten bashed—that's part of the territory of being a public figure. Couric's predecessor, Dan Rather, was widely mocked for wearing sweaters, for his corn-pone sayings, for his penchant for misadventure. Finally, he was kicked out of his anchor chair in a humiliating fashion. At least he couldn't complain all this happened because white guys can't catch a break. Does Couric believe that if she were a black man she'd be No. 1 in the ratings?

  • So it's an outrage for Katie Couric to call someone she doesn't know, a sexist... But it's perfectly okay to call any conservative a racist? Sorry, Kieth... I don't know what game you're playing, but you have different rules for yourself...

  • MSNBC, and their parent company GE, should kick Keith Olbermann to the curb. Olbermann's chronic pattern MISOGYNISTIC behavior would not be tolerated any other workplace. Whether that workplace is: U.S. Military; Municipal to Federal Government Agencies; Small Mom & Pop/ Family owned business; or a Multi-National Global Corporation...MISOGNY would be ground for immediate termination.Olbermann's MISOGYNISTIC PSEUDO BRAVADO could be a cover up for his homosexual tendiencies. MSNBC Fire K.O. now!!

  • Keith Olbermann: the king of rhetoric.

  • Did Olberman just say he was jealous that she's a network news anchor and he's not? That's what I was hearing____________Seriously, Couric is a b, but he was speaking nonsense. And listening to him (or Couric) lecture on journalistic integrity only makes laugh.

  • He's so melodramatic

  • @y2zgt I'llask again please give an example of someone you think represents the right wing, the center and the left.I ask this so I can try to understand your frame of reference, For example George Bush is to the left of Regan but to the right of McCain, and Ted Kennedy was to the left of his brother John but to the right of someone like Dennis Kucinich. If I understood where you were coming from I might understand what you mean

  • @llyynncollnn1 Yeah the education system indoctrinates the public with far right ideology. With that in mind your argument makes sense. But you have been programed by the right winged education system! Wake up sheep!!

  • @y2zgt I have a degree in political science from the university of washington and if you belive marx is a centrisl your so far out of the mainstream as to be counted among the tin foil hat wearing crowd. By deffinition a centrist must hold positions supported by a large percentage(30%-40%)of the public., since outside of a relitive handfull of academics and radicals nobody even is as far left as marx the notion of marx being a centrist is laughable. Name someone on the right, center and left?
