Ballyk-Peter returns from his mother's funeral

From "The Reckoning." Padraig is in the midst of an old bar story that turns awkward when Peter silently enters Fitzgeralds, newly returned to Ballyk from his mother's funeral, but Peter saves both his friend and the moment.

Assumpta is trying out some Thai dishes on her friends while across the street at the Garda house, Ambrose is planning on shutting her down for operating after-hours.

The lights flicker in the bar and Assumpta goes to see what's the matter. Still looking a bit shell-shocked, Peter allows Brendan to steer him towards some alone time with Assumpta, his knowing eye following Peter down to the basement.
