Nobody knows, really, who composed it. It was attributed to John Redford for years, but recent scholarship now says not - according to Oxford U Press.
The Purcell setting is for orchestra (or organ reduction), three soloists, and choir.
You can find it on youtube by searching for Purcell and rejoice in the lord. The Chanticleer version is outstanding.
This is very well sung by W&M indeed - they rock along, but I like that.

This is Redford indeed; this particular piece of music was sung amongst others at the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 during the hommage ceremony.

Some would say this is Thomas Tallis, at least thats what my music prof says, but who knows. This is a beautiful version, lovely. Our choir just sang this song. Thanks for sharing!

Whose arrangement is this? I sang this in college myself, and have had it stuck in my head on and off for weeks, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to find the piece again!

Purcell - and this is an excellent rendition.

Ok so I lied. This is my favorite piece from this choir. You all really shine on songs like this I think [your best sound is in literature like this no???]
Who's this by???
This is not Purcell. This is John Redford, 16th century. You can find the sheet music on the frogmusic website...
