Fast paced video of loading a pottery kiln for a bisque load. I only used 2 shelves, which allows me to get more in the kiln. Often I don't use any! The stacking takes a little practice and a lot of guts the first few times. I have never had anything warp or break during the firing.

  • Enjoy! You can cram a lot into a bisque load... Just be sure it is packed tight enough so things don't shift to much as they shrink during firing.

  • Just saw your kiln packing video. Wow, that was a tight pack. what temperature did you fire it to?

  • Bisque fire to cone 08 and glaze to cone 5. The bisque is lower than many people do but, it works well for me. I've never had pin hole problems or anything like that so, I have no need to spend the x-tra time or energy to 06.

  • LOL Soooo, that's what you do when we aren't in your studio!!!! I swear that was my covered jar in the lower right on the bottom shelf, hehe. I best be picking a glaze for it :) What fun to watch, and great music :o)

  • You have a good eye! That is your piece... I think you had a few others in that load as well.

  • ROTFL!!!!! I have never seen anyone load a kiln like that!! I'll bet your load a mean dishwasher :)

  • Hummm, my husband always does the dishes, I thought he was just being nice...

Give it a try sometime! Works great with all those odd shaped items which usually just take up a lot of space.

  • I'm new to firing and find this video very informative and fun! Thanks!!

  • Hi Teresa, I think I have the same kiln as you do. L&L e28t. I bought it 2nd hand and the lid assembly is missing the spring. So tell me, what is the scoop with your lid rig?

  • now thats packing a kiln!!

  • Excellent video. A creative way to demonstrate how you fill the kiln for a bisque load. Dogwood thinks you are the greatest.

  • Very cool, and fun to watch too! ;-D
