Fantasmic No Dragon

Filmed on March 13, 2009 at Disneyland, this video is of the dragon segment of Fantasmic when the dragon is not in proper condition to appear. Due to a refurbishment of Fantasmic in early 2009, which was supposed to include the installation of a new dragon, the original Fantasmic dragon, "Bucky," was put out of use about a month prior to the refurbishment which is when this video was filmed. The new Fantasmic was expected to debut on June 12, 2009 as Disneyland's Summer Nightastic promotion with new Flotsam and Jetsam characters, a new tic-toc crock, and a brand new forty foot tall full body dragon. However, due to reasons not specified by Disney (though rumors exist that the head fell off), the dragon did not make it's debut on Friday June 12. Finally, after months of anticipation and many return dates that turned out to be bogus, the dragon finally appeared on Tuesday, September 2, 2009. Honestly I think Maleficent rising like that, looks much more powerful then the dragon :/ i just HOPE i get to see her rise again before the dragon is put back in

Maleficent always rises in the show even when the dragon is working. She just stays up there a little longer in place of the dragon when the dragon isn't working.

Exactly, but the dragon looks much too puppet to me :P and i think having a live person up there being maleficent with her staff and lighting the rivers of america on fire looks much more violent then the dragon, because the dragon is so big it's movements have to be slow and swift. But i hope i get to see maleficent rise again and do the dragons part, cause in a regular performance she goes down and the dragon comes out very shortly after her appearance

Yeah that is exactly why they are adding a new dragon. They want to make it look more real and finally give it the powerful climax it has been lacking for 17 years.

I wish Disney World would fill in the empty spaces, I also hear that Disneyland doesnt leave things broken for a long amount of time. I am going to have to start going to Disneyland.
