Scientologist lies about Dianetics affiliation

On 20 February 2010, the Nashanons went to Rivergate Mall to scope out the 'Dianetics' booth. One of the Nashanons had this conversation with one of the three staffers working the booth:

Nashanon: Okay, I have a question.

Scientologist: Yeah?

Nashanon: Dianetics... is that not affiliated with Scientology?

Scientologist: Um, well... it was started by the same guy.

Nashanon: Okay. 'Cause... I've driven past the Org on 8th and it had like a banner with the volcano and everything so I thought the two were related.

Scientologist: Well, they're related because they were started by the same person.

Nashanon: Okay.

Scientologist: But they're different subjects, like Dianetics is the study of the mind and really has nothing to do with the spirituality or religion of Scientology; Scientology is a religion, it's a religious [inaudible], so... have you been in there?

Nashanon: Been in there? No. Um... a friend of mine went in, but it's just... it's not my bag. Okay, I was just wondering 'cause I saw Dianetics and I was just... wondering. Thanks!

That is the same booth a walked by with my friend the day the new arcade was put in at River Gate Mall. The guy asked if I wanted to try a stress test and I was like "No, That's all bullshit, PLEASE DON'T FAIR GAME MEH"

And he turned around really quickly and asked someone else.

We walked back later on and he asked my friend this time if he wanted stress test and my friend flipped out and just started shouting "THE THETANS IN MAH BRAIN EATIN' MAH SOUL HALP MEH TOM CRUISE"

Earnest reaction to ridiculous claims and bogus pseudo-science/spirituality/te­chnology - if indeed, by your own reckoning, you were to encounter it - can be just as devastating.
