June 10, 2007. Hammonds qualified 16th in the tough 16-car field and defeated No. 1 qualifier Greg Anderson in Round 2. Hammonds lost to Jason Line in Round 2 running 6.702 seconds to Line's quickest-of-the-eliminator 6.661 e.t. at 207.46 MPH.
