About the music;

Used with permission, copyright 2004, "It's not Fair" is the sixth and final track on the self titled 2004 debut release from Caesar Kellogg. A haunting album of personal lyrics and captivating sounds.

After working closely with the recording artist for a few years, I can honestly say that he is the most talented person I have ever met. A renowned freelance and professional painter, sculptor, and musician.

Caesar Kellogg has even been so kind as to appear in two of our previous videos, and shows interest in becoming a regular face in our presentations. We cannot thank him enough for his contributions, and for allowing us to use his music for our videos.

For serious inquires regarding purchase information of Caesar Kellogg compact discs, please contact us via the YouTube messenger service. C.D.s are $5.00 plus $2.50 shipping and handling and can be mailed anywhere in the continental U.S. Please note that these are studio recorded, factory manufactured C.D.s that will ship in a clear slim line jewel case, without cover art, as none was ever produced. At this time, the recording is not available for purchase through any other outlet.

We are always looking for up-and-coming musicians to expose in our videos. If you, or someone you know would be interested in granting permission for us to use their music in future productions, please contact us through the YouTube messenger service. Thank you.

About the video;

I prefer to aerate as opposed to verticutting, for the simple fact that aerating really gives the seed a place to go. Personally, I have never used a verticutter that did little more that scratch the surface. The compost covers the seed, and provides much needed nutrients throughout the next growing season. The hay, or straw, helps to reduce erosion and provides a bit of shelter for the germinating seed as it develops.

Three cameras were used in photographing this video. A Sony HandyCam was used for the moving video scenes. A Kodak Easy Share DX 7590 digital camera was used for the overhead still images once a day, for almost two weeks as the new grass pushed up through the straw. Finally, a Nikon Cool Pix 8700 digital was used for all of the time lapse shots, including several thousand pictures of grass growing that make up the high speed time lapse scenes. The video was edited using Ulead Video Studio 11 available from Corel Software.

Thank you for watching, and as always, Enjoy!

  • is that a rotavator in the begining

  • @smurfman234 It's an aerator. It removes plugs of soil from the ground to aerate the soil and give the seed a place to go.

  • how mutch did this cost you cuz i do lawn work for a neibor and she wants me to re seed her yard and ive tryed it onece before just re seeding and the weeks over ruled the grass so i wana do it from square 1 like you did and that should work

  • @MrPirateSir1 I think the whole thing cost around $245.00. This figure does not include labor, and I own all of the equipment shown, so there was no expense for rentals. Good luck with your project!

  • Can I use this process on hard clay. We live in a newer development and my back yard wasn't sodded. The front is Tifway 419 Bermuda and I would love to do the rest of my lawn this way except a hybrid 419 seed or Princess. Can this concept apply as well?

  • @Teleknesis

    If you can add enough top soil you should be fine. Clay typically does not contain or hold nutrients very well, so you would be best off to amend that as best as possible. Hopefully your clay is not too hard to till, you can always add sand and compost to help break it down. There are also a variety of liquid clay treatments that are supposed to break clay down, but I have never really had much luck with them.

    I hope this is helpful, thank you for watching!

  • @ianh321 Using the straw helps to reduce erosion from watering and rain. It also provides some protection for the developing plants. In addition, it will help keep feeding birds from eating all of your new grass seeds! Good luck!

  • Dude Dont Use STRAW. Most of ya Weeds come from STRAW. Just friendly advice

  • Yea, straw isn't needed. I spread the topsoil first, and then seed and then rake the seeds in and then seed again. This give you thick grass when it comes it. I would also suggest using a power rake prior to aerating to loosen up the soil.

  • @LifesEyesFilms what is you get a tiller instead?

  • I've seen people replace wit grass seed and it looks better. Around the tree looks pretty bad.

  • @LifesEyesFilms thanks couldnt workout if it was an aerator or a rotavator :p

  • 2:25 FAIL
