I've created and built a new cartoon character in Anime Studio. The rig is made so that each pose can be created via point level key frames. This first part is just explaining the way the rig is made and how I'm animating it. Once I finish the shot, I will make another part to explain the final shot and show what the timeline looks like under the hood.

  • How does this system react to Redraw, for those of us that enjoy using all three forms of animation. Redraw (Cel Animation), Shape Tween, and Transform.

  • @stringanime I'd love to see some tutorials of how to use AnimeStudio for Redraw animation. I think it's possible, but in this program you build all your content on frame zero and share that content across the frames. It's not made to draw on frames in a traditional sense. The rig above I'm taking a rig created on frame zero and reposing it on other frames. If you know of any good redraw animation tools out there... i'd love to try them. I mostly use flash.. and the open source tool.. Pencil.

  • @crowquill66 What I use is Flash, export SWF files, then go into After Effects to Shade and add Post effects, on my professional channel "FRANKSTRINGINI" you can see a DORA sample as well as other samples exercising the technique. So Tablet in Flash. OH, and DEFINATELY download the Plugin "Batch Exporter" for Flash! Makes Exporting Symbols Easy.

  • @stringanime Thank you for your tips! =) I'll subscribe to your channel and look at your process. Sweet!

  • Did you ever get this done?

  • very nice!

  • Hi Joe, thanks for posting your tutorial(s). Your bone-less approach to animation is great, thanks for sharing. I look forward to your next videos(s).

  • Thanks. I totally enjoy your style of animation and you taking the time to explain them. I am surprised you don't have a couple of movies out. I love the 10second shorts and this fellow is great.

  • Sweet! A subscriber I look forward to your tutorials!

I too prefer point animation to bone animation for some effects.
