Hi There,

Added some other bits of functionality to my patch so wanted to update the video record for anyone downloading it from maxforlive.com who wants a guide to how it works...

Out of the 5 scenes i want to create i've got 1 and a half working... The half is the standard function of the apc40's bottom three button (rec arm etc.) using the live api, plus the ability to change the launch quantization....

The scene that seems finished at the moment gives you looping functionality, you can set a loop of a defined length, halve it double it etc.... Plus you get a visual representation of the loop length when looping a clip that has a loop and is set to loop....

I'd love your comments for ideas of how i might develop things further, once i've finished i'm going to encase everything in a bpatcher and then have the ability to have the patch as a floating window so that you could always have it in view as well as seeing the clip focus....

Cheers
D

  • looks really promising, even for non apc40 users.

As a dj, i always wanted for loop controls for a SPECIFIC channel rather than a global one.

So if i dont have apc40 can i still use it using standard midi learn ?

not sure how this would fit into an apc, but having a knob labelled "loop lenght" would also be cool (you know, a knob linked to these 8 buttons)

  • The current patch is totally midi mappable, the looping function is quite glitchy though for some reason on occasions you'll set a loop and the transport will play through it and past the loop point..... I played with the idea of the knob for loop length and it worked ok when you mapped it to a knob with a feelable click but you relied too much on looking at the screen with smooth action encoders...

  • i know its complicated when you have lets say 8 positions and a knob to find the exact lenght you want, but in my case with the nocturn i can choose only 8 steps (instead of 127) which makes it a bit easier, its complicated and i have to look at the screen anyways, but i dont use 8 buttons (which would be my entire nocturn set of buttons !)

  • On the latest version i;ve reduced the loop sizes down to a bar, 2 bars or 4 bars... anything less and it just wasn't reliable.... Then i've got a manual in and out pair of buttons and a halve and double pair of buttons....

You could have the live.tab object to choose between the lengths with the knob and then one button would be needed to fire the loop into the clip....

If you want any help with it, send me your email and i'll put you on the mailing list....

    Cheers

  • That said in M4L with a bank of buttons like the ones in the patch if you have a live.tab object (which is mappable to a knob) you can set up sel 0 sel 1 sel 2 etc objects that are patched to the relevant buttons......

    Cheers
