Here is a good slow motion video of Luke Donald. In 2011, he played some very consistent golf and became the #1 player in the world. You can learn a lot by watching his golf swing. Notice how well he swings the club on plane. Swinging the club on plane is a key to hitting the ball solid and maintaining a consistent ball flight. Also, watch how the golf shaft disects through his right forearm as he swings up and also when he swings down. Not much can go wrong when the club disects through the forearm on the way back down. Also, notice how he has good hip rotation while the club stays on plane.

This is a very nice swing to try to copy.

  • @jeanmunn Cool story bro

  • Re: Spine Angle, by failing to maintain our spine angle whether it's on the backswing or downswing we not only lose distance we lose direction.

My coach insists on it, Tom Watson said it is the key to good golf and Peter Kostis says it's absolutely essential.

I'm a senior golfer and my season has not started yet, I'm working my ass off on drills and hopefully my efforts will pay off.

Look on " You-Tube " look at the top pros. set up and golf swings they all maintain their spine angles.

  • All of us golfers regardless of ability have one thing in common,,,,the desire to improve, no matter if you are a 24 handicap player at your local club or Mr. Woods, Luke Donald, young McIlroy et al.

Is there a secret ? not really, but there is a key that all of us amateurs should improve on to attain a better golf game, it's called maintaining the spine angle.

Most of us don't, we come out of the shot, we fail to maintain our knee flex and straighten our right leg on the way back, I'll continue

  • @vicmanuelarmenta Tough to judge...the leading edge is NOT the true face angle. I did not think you were being critical, I just disagree with your assessment...politely, of course!

  • Lots of pros play from a shut position but Luke does not

  • What camera and settings were used to film this swing? Thanks in advance.

  • @bobscottjnr Slightly shut on the takeaway, but recovers nicely. At 0:41, his club is about the angle of his spine, which is not bad, but most players have the toe slightly higher. I am not criticizing at all.

  • @Vicmarvaldes Shut to what? Looks pretty square to the arc, given that his path looks a little left of straight (down the target line.)

  • I play his irons.

  • His club is a little shut, but by far one of the most consistent players.
