Any guitarist who can say "fuck guitar, what this song needs is some tamborine" is someone to aspire to.

Musicians have always been like that, Jerry lee lewis burning and smashing his piano, The who, kiss, the clash, nirvana etc. Same goes for the "look how cool we are! we don't give a fuck" thing....been around for ages, you had jazz musicians in the 40's/50's so fucked up on heroin they couldn't play lol.

Since when do you have to posture to be emotional and professional? I know plenty of artists that can play the songs the way they were intended and deliver a performance 10 times as emotional as this.

All I get from this video is "look how cool we are! We don't even give a fuck about playing the song we're so cool". I'm sure it was fun for them, but if I was in the crowd, I'd want a refund. But then, their fans are the types of people who think this sort of thing is meaningful.

You think this what this is? It's about pure emotion. This an example of breaking on through to the other side. They are sick of playing it right and pretty and posturing to look all emotional and professional. This is what happens when musicianship and being a tightly packaged product is co-opted by pure expression.

That, or Omar's probably on drugs.
