The player could choose the WAY Phoenix ended the trial, not the outcome.

*choose: Guilty* Phoenix points out that Engarde's life would be in danger, would he walk around free (he WAS the client that betrayed DeKiller, after all), thus pleading guilty.

*choose: Not guilty* Phoenix sarcastically states that Engarde should savor every moment of the little time he has left, which he obviously does in order to make Engarde plead guilty verdict himself.
