(Rep R-WI) Jim Sensenbrenner talks about the Real ID Act at the Jackson Town Hall

This video was filmed on April 20, 2011 at the Jackson Wisconsin Town Hall Meeting. The attendance was low since the meeting took place at 10:45am on a Wednesday morning. Most people who would like to voice their concerns are at work or didn't even know he was coming there that day. My battery ran out before I was done questioning him. One of my last questions was; "what is next? Are we creating a police state for the future generations?" and he side stepped the question of course.

The REAL ID Act establishes a national ID card by mandating that states include certain minimum identification standards on driver's licenses. They will include an RFID tracking chip in them. In the law, a person must have a Real ID Act-compliant card in order to access a federal building, access any regulated or interstate mode of transportation (airplane or train), obtain any federal benefit (social security), open a bank account, meet federal requirements to buy a firearm, or vote in an election. A person could not enter any federal building, or an office of his or her congressman or senator or the U.S. Capitol. This effectively denies that person their fundamental rights to assembly and to petition the government as guaranteed in the First Amendment.
