The Metheny/Pastorius/Moses-trio was indeed a very versatile one. Here they perform the old standard "Stella By Starlight", reportedly one of Jaco's favorites. Taken from a live performance in 1974 at Zircon, Boston.

  • I think that is remarkable is that Pat was about 20 at the time this was recorded. I knew him then let me tell you whenever he played it was magic. Before I got the chance to see Jaco play, I was walking with Pat through the lobby of the Mass Ave Berklee building and he was describing Jaco as the Bird of the bass, that he would be one of the great. Now there was a life snuffed out too soon, much like Emily Rimler.

  • muito bom sou fã destes dois genios!!!very good these men are genius

  • let us take, do not tire of listening to it! exudes peace

  • @loksinsan I respect and like a lot of PM by the author of memorable pages but I think you have a point. Sometimes he makes me sick perhaps be too prolific.

  • @MrAlbanzee I agree with you bro. There is no question that Pat contributed enormously to the jazz world as both composer and player. But it doesn't change the fact that i feel he his boring to listen to.That's just me.I find his playing clean and exiquisite to the point of being clinical, almost surgical.I find his tone particularly annoying. But hey, different strokes for different folks.I just never got sucked into the tide the way these college graduates did, worshipping the ground he walked on

  • @MrAlbanzee I agree

  • Thanks for posting this...I saw this trio at Zircon a few times in '74, so I may have been there the night this was recorded - who knows? It was stunning to hear Metheny, with his unique, liquid phrasing. And the first time Jaco popped off a cluster of harmonics, I looked around to see who was playing the Fender Rhodes...
