The John Locke Foundation and Lenoir-Rhyne University's Reese Institute for the Conservation of Natural Resources hosted A Forum on Climate Change: Opposing Views, Feb. 11. 2009, at the Hickory (N.C.) Metro Convention Center. Dr. William H. Schlesinger, president of the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, and Dr. John R. Christy, professor of atmospheric science and director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, offered the opposing views. In this clip, Christy concludes his response, and John Brzorad begins the question-and-answer session.

  • At the 3:35 mark, Mr. Schlesinger, a global warming alarmist and defender of the IPCC, is asked how many of the IPCC's 2500 members are actually climate scientists. Schlesinger estimates that 20% "have some dealing with climate." If he is correct, do you people realize the implication of this? Only 20% of the members of the IPCC, the world's leading authority on climate change, have had "some dealing with climate"?! Does the IPCC have a shred of credibility left?

  • So, if the cattle industry increased by a sharp measure the Government would need to mitigate it just like a power plant?? See that is just one of the thousands of reasons Climate Change starts to get smelly. By Schlesinger's way of thinking the vast herds of Bison that existed here and in Canada before Brit colonization. Must have been harmful to the enviornment - does that make any kind of sense - no it doesn't. This is about Government power & oppression, period!

  • John R. Christy has been accused of recanting his position that climate change is neither Anthropogenic nor Catastrophic, but he didn’t. He used two independent data sets, weather balloon and satellite. (see links in my about me) Later he only stated that there was some anthropogenic impact that could not be predicted 100 years out, but that what we’re doing was good for the plants.

  • Are the temps measured accurately? The guy that founded the weather channel said that they used to whitewash the instrument boxes; now they use latex paint which is enough to raise the temp by a degree.

  • I need to buy a chuck wagon to get to work, dammit , and haul all that product . Oh, but the methane....I CALL BULLSHIT ON MAN MADE GLOBAL WARMING!!!!! Are they going to issue carbon credit cards and charge you interest too?

  • The whole Global Warming thing is a complete fraud to control our lives and tax the air we breathe basically.

CO2 is one of the four main sources of life on our planet, including oxygen, sunlight and heat. Plants and trees breathe it and turn it into oxygen which we then turn into CO2 and so the cycle continues.

  • "Coal is so 19th Century." What an absurd comment. This guy is full of absurd comments. "Decarbonize our energy supply." What the heck does that mean? I'll tell you what it means. Humans will have to go back to 19th Century living standards. Back to horses and goats. If you do enough research you discover that this entire movement is subsidized by eugenics and elites deadset on reducing the earth's population to below 1 billion. Think about it. Carbon tax. Think about it. You are carbon based.
