  • @AllRequired they may not have the same financial issues but there is always going to be a relationship between audience and revenue. it just doesn't make sense to say that producers don't care for ratings, of course they do. any producer cares for ratings.

  • @PhoenixMarco5 Perhaps, but the Super Bowl is a single event on a single night (and if you ask me, downright retarded and boring). Shows like Survivor are multiple episodes spread out over a stretch of time and thus do not have the same financial issues. They make steady consistent revenue that, while not being as much per episode as the Bowl, enable them to overcome almost anything.

Watch the Idol finale and see a ratings blockbuster in action.

  • @AllRequired you seem like you know a thing on two. so think about this, you really think that the more they lose viewers the more money they get? there is a reason why commercials are so expensive during the super bowl, as we know, its because everyone (except me that is) watches the super bowl. The more people watch it, the more cbs will get paid, period, so of course they want a big audience and high ratings, and they wouldn't keep on doing something if it killed that.

  • @PhoenixMarco5 Simple: advertising revenue. You think all those products that show up as rewards are simply for show? Advertisers pay huge sums to have their products featured on the program. It's called product placement, and it works.

  • @AllRequired lol and how do you think they get cash? by getting the ratings as low as possible?

  • @PhoenixMarco5 Producers don't care about ratings, just cash.

  • @AllRequired dude, idk where you got those numbers, i am a very logical person, and here is what i think: stop thinking you are smarter than the producers. What the producers want is ratings. if someone does not get them ratings, they will not keep on calling him back, that's for one. second of all, Russell is so polarizing, those who love him will definitely watch just to see him play again, and those who hate him will watch to see him get voted out.

  • For the record, here are the final numbers for each season on which Russell appeared, according to the Nielsens:

    Samoa: #26 (2009-2010), 12,3 million viewers (fewest)

Heroes vs Villains: #25 (2009-2010), 12,6 million viewers (second fewest)

Redemption Island: #18 (2010-2011), 12,6 million viewers (third fewest)

    Fake numbers? Survivor_(U.S._TV_series)#U.S._television_ratings

  • @chinglis You know it for a fact? Can you provide me ironclad rock-solid evidence Russell brought Samoa ratings up? Hasn't happened yet. You've given me no hard numbers, nothing except a say-so from someone with a well-deserved reputation for playing favorites. That's all.

So no, I'm not the retarded one here, and I'm not the one who's being laughed at. At this point, it's safe to say we have a gentleman's stalemate going on here, so you just go on believing whatever you want.
