This is the short movie, the producers of Saw have made to broadcast it on TV to see whether it pleases the audience.
Obviously the people liked it and they started to make the Saw series. All Saw films are based on, but are not in any other way related to this one.
And YES, the actor in here (here he is called David) is the same as in the first Saw movie (where he is called Adam).

Have you seen all of them and all until the end?
Because I really hate gore and stuff too, but I think the great storylines and twists make up for all of it.
Allthough, I must admit, the 6th one wasn't good at all.

both Characters adam and david are pretty much the same. really wish adam could have been a major character in more of the saw films
