I'm white, I listen to N.W.A. ? Good music doesn't know any race. If you like the music then you like the music, it's as simple as that.

  • @bloemetjen First of all, the bullshit pervading radio stations and tv music outlets AIN'T Hip Hop. It's the bastard mutated grafted stepchild of Hip Hop, known as rap. Second of all, to answer your question, the intelligent ones are predominantly INDEPENDENT or UNDERGROUND. Why? They're so fucking disgusted with the bullshit passed off as Hip Hop. The real question, as I see it is: why do INTELLIGENT fans of Hip Hop keep expecting mainstream cats to give 'em the real deal??

  • @derekmac61 if you ever say the clash and blondie in the same sentence , say that they are in the same realm, or even think you know any thing about hip hop I will hunt you down and kill you but please save me the prison time KILL YOURSELF!

  • @JayTAkins could you two please shut the hell up? No one cares about your problems. If you two want to argue, go on another video. Otherwise what you are saying is not relevant to this video.

  • Big love for the dela

  • My favorite song from the De La!

  • Great beats. Classic hip hop!

  • @lakshmimittal Who are hostile to iTunes? De La Soul? Not at all. They do want to have their early work for digital sale but Warner Bros are too scared to put up this album because there are many uncleared samples that may not make it into digital in case artists that were sampled whine about clearance. With that said, I don't understand why their other albums are not up.

  • True! But the fact remains that Prince Paul (and to a slightly lesser extent A Tribe Called Quest, The Beastie Boys and a few other rap groups at the time) took too many liberties with the length of samples they used. He had to do was chop the samples down some and it wouldn't have raised nearly the same ruckus. (Even more galling when the re-mixes of this song and Me, Myself and I are such perfect examples of how to sample RESPONSIBLY!)

  • what do you expect ChaosCat79? Hip Hop/Rap has done nothing but 'steal' samples since it first started out. FFS stealing from good ol' white skinned blue eyed boys was as 'radical' as Rap/Hip Hop gets!!!! Rappers Delight 'stole' from Chic & its always happened (apart from 'white' rap songs by The Clash & Blondie, probably the only original rap songs ever made)

  • Of course De La Soul (and Prince Paul in particular) have to share a big portion of the blame for this current situation. The wreckless over-use of long samples from extremely well known artists tracks was just ASKING for trouble, and now 20+ years later we are seeing the after effects.... with the mega-corp music companies now in possession of the licenses to these samples and with the legal twisting of the copyright laws through the years, we're unlikely to see creative hip-hop now.

  • oohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this is my hip hop! nothing today can even come close!!! ujmm wate MF DOOM:)
